2010 highlights coming soon and a few decisions to make, so here goes.
Spring Bank Holiday sailing. Nick Spall has kindly brought his yacht round to SCYC so that Tom Milne can give us committee boat starts over the long weekend. This comprises of Sat 29th May 14.00 hrs, Sunday 30th 10.30 hrs, Monday 31st 10.30 hrs.
Sat evening 30th May John Gosling is organising a Hog Roast in the Cove. Several of us have already booked in. If you want to join us contact John direct ASAP. Ring 07792381904, or E-mail jane.gosling@btinternet .com.
Sailing up to the Nationals. After Spring Bank Holiday we have 2 further weekends sailing programmed.
W/E June 5th & 6th Burwain Mugs
W/E June 12th & 13th Mayer Cup.
We are programmed to crane out on the Sunday 13th.
After the champs we have a 3 week break before sailing starts with a new event at SCYC the “Early Summer Regatta 16th & 17th July”.
The idea is to get all the classes sailing “together”. Tim Little has volunteered to give Committee boat starts with Squibs, Dragons, Pandora’s, all having their own flight but racing the same course. Even the Dinghy fleet will be sailing but I think on their own courses from the club. The idea is to give we Squibs something to get back into the water for, bring out the August Squib fleet a little earlier, and get a bit of a buzz into the club by getting as many boats on the water as we can. Obviously this can only work if we give it our support. I am hoping the Squib fleet will support the event.
There will be a do in the cove on the Saturday evening, but more about that later.
August
We have the traditional August programme starting;
Sat 31st July with the 1st August miniseries.
Sunday 1st August with the Lighthouse Pursuit.
Monday 2nd to Friday 6th ; 1st August Series
Sat 7th Aug ; 2nd August Miniseries.
Sunday 8th to Friday 13th Squib Week. We already have at least 4 visitors and I guess more will turn up.
The Class Party will this year be Friday 13th AUGUST. The blue book gets a bit confused about dates and socials. The Socials calendar on page 14 of the Blue book states Friday the 14th August for the Class Party. Wrong in 2010 it’s the 13th.
Please can everyone make a note of the fact that the party is Friday evening not the traditional Saturday
