Welcome to the Dinghy section at SCYC.
The waters off SCYC in Cardigan Bay are renowned for good sailing, and must rank amongst the best sailing areas in the UK. The village of Abersoch provides a wealth of accommodation, bars and restaurants to provide for the most demanding of yachtsmen and their families. The beaches of the area are top quality golden sand, ideal for family beach/sailing holidays.
The dinghy section will host details of events, both on the water and social, news items, results and more. During 2008, the class will be divided thus:
-
Class 6 - Fast Handicapped Dinghies (PYS below 1170)
-
Class 7 - RS Fevas and other Slow Handicapped Dinghies (PYS above 1170)
-
Class 8 - Mirror & Toppers
The classes will all race together, but results are calculated on a class basis.

| SCYC RS Feva Open |
17/08/2008 |
We have just completed the first Club RS Feva Open to great success. 11 boats entered, 8 club members & 3 visiting boats. Saturday was a blow out with winds at over 30, gusting near 40 for most of the day. Ever hopeful that the winds would die down, racing was postponed till 3pm. At 3 the wind was just as high so out came the sports day activity kit. The evening BBQ was brought under cover and 45 people crammed into one house. A very enjoyable evening was had by all. Sunday luckily brought better weather and 4 races were sailed, 2 before lunch & 2 after. With gusty winds and most boats capsizing at some point during the day, the competition really hotted up in races 3 & 4.
Final placings were
1. Baby Blue - Fab Peters & Elliot Mills
2. Rascal II - George Shelley & Ben Robinson
3. Night Feva - James Middleton & Toby Thomas
4. Revenge Of the Swallow - Ben Robinson & Rebecca Morris
5. It Wasn't Me - Poppy/Charlie Ralph & Emma Ralph
Many thanks to Shelley Signs for donating the winners plaques and sponsoring the T-shirts. Thanks also to LDC racing sailboats/RS Racing for the RS towels, to all those who gave up their spare time & boats to assist and to SCYC for their support in this event.

| Club Dinghy Racing Begins |
29/07/2008 |
Club dinghy racing began this week on Monday. All geared up and ready to start the 1st August Series but alas no wind! Today there was wind , so a course was set using a 'pyramid' mark to ensure an inshore course. 10 boats turned out to sail 3 races today. The results will hopefully be posted on the website in the next couple of days, under Mixed Dinghies Results. |

| Dinghy Marks |
21/07/2008 |
This year will see the introduction of 3 pyramid marks for Club dinghy racing. These have been kindly donated by the Collinson & Whittaker Families, chain & anchors kindly donated by Abersoch Boatyard and the vinyl for the writing on them donated by Shelley Signs.
The aim with these new marks is to set 'inside the moorings' courses, to encourage more sailors and to ensure the safety boat(s) can cover the course area effectively with the different performance variations in the dinghy fleet. |
