SCYC has organised races since its founding and has hosted many National, European and World Championships. The major local dinghy events are the Annual Abersoch Dinghy Week and Abersoch Mirror Week. These are run separately from all other events and attract nearly 500 dinghys to the two events.

SCYC enjoys the reputation as one of the premier dinghy racing venues in the country and will host a number of major National, European or World Championships every year.

Abersoch Keelboat Week and the Cardigan Bay Celtic Regatta are the major events for the bigger boats. Not only the dinghys are attracted to the sailing in Cardigan Bay. Major keelboat fleets have had Championships here including the Squib, Pandora and Cork 1720 fleets. In 2005 the Sonata Class hold their Nationals here.
